Hey, nothing against ArtPrize. Really.

The way ArtPrize has focused attention on art and Grand Rapids is way cool.

But even though it bucked the DeVos family theology by making the award-granting process democratic (1 person, 1 vote) rather than market-based (1 dollar, 1 vote), it's still been made ugly by the prize money.

You've got people buying billboards, trying viral online marketing, cheap publicity stunts, and other anticooperative, competitive crap. All for a shot at a quarter million dollars.

NoPrize is just what it says on the tin.
There is No Prize. It's just about art.

If you have art in a public place in Grand Rapids (or thereabouts), let NoPrize know. Include what it is, where it is, and when it's accessible. A photo is optional. As we get this information, we'll present it on this site.
